Using algorithms, Data Switch Pro™ moves applications from one database server to another server
based on the load and quality of service needed. For instance, any Oracle database
application or IBM DB-2 database application
residing on a server makes a request of all available database servers. Because Data Switch Pro™
knows in advance the resource utilization patterns and health of all the servers in the data-area
network based on historical monitoring, it already has utilized its resource
optimization algorithm to determine which physical database server will process the
request.

Data Switch Pro™ uses an embedded Linux operating system and is built on Intel Corp. processor hardware.
