The World Wide Web is progressing at an astonishing speed. The Internet is completely revolutionizing the way people and companies are conducting business globally. In today's extremely competitive environment, if your company is not moving ahead, it is in reverse gear and will probably fail within the next year. We are now entering the Internet, Chapter Two. Many new opportunities await all existing and older established mature companies that are still doing business "the old traditional way". Chapter Two is the dynamic shift of the Internet being an entertainment concept to an international business transaction medium. It has already started to leave the wreckage of long-standing business models in it's wake. In September of 2000, a major study was done by Deloitte Research in Boston, Mass. that focused on e-commerce and it's probable changes in the world of international business. Here are it's main conclusions:
A new age of cut-throat "e-flavor" price wars to get new customers.
The eventual disappearance of cash as we know it.
A solution to the software language barrier.
More rapid Internet business communications.
With these important facts in mind, to profitably remain in business today, companies will have to adapt to a lot of changes, in certain cases, drastic changes, depending on it's exact industry this particular company happens to be in. In terms of stores, there will probably be more social orientation to them, says the Deloitte report. It also concluded that most consumers and business executives are spending more and more time on the Internet and on their computers at home. When they go out, they prefer to do social things. Because traditional "physical" store fronts cannot compete head on with e-Business and e-commerce retail prices, they have to differentiate themselves more in other ways. According to the same Deloitte study, by 2002, Internet revenues will top US $ 3.1 trillion and more then 80% of large companies will adopt the Web as a major sales medium, rendering barriers of time and distance between buyers and sellers totally obsolete. Additionally, the emergence of digital cash is a major factor influencing all the new changes. The study also states that there is a potential cost savings of over 72% over traditional store-front business transactions, worth an estimated US $ 18.3 billion annually.
Here is our conclusion:
The growing use of e-Business, e-commerce and other Internet-based
services is a must-have to all companies today, independently of
their area of business or their particular industry. One area where
companies can increase their chances of success, is with the use of a
"Web priority pricing system". That concept lets consumers pay different
prices for different levels of service and/or value-added services,
based on certain categories of that company's products or services.
