How long has the Internet or the Web been in existence anyway ?
A long time... more than most people think...
The Internet as we know it today has actually been around since about 1969-70. In the early days, only universities, governments and some selected, top ranking military companies had access to the Internet. Back then, the Internet was called "Arpanet". It was a blend of military and university research projects. Later, in the early seventies, more companies started to realize that there might be some money to be made on the Internet. This is basically how it all started.
More information is available on the history of the Internet. The "Net" itself is a good place to find more information about the Internet. In a few weeks, we will have more coverage of some subjects in this section. Visit this site as often as you can to keep up with the avalanche of new information we post here on an almost daily basis.

Since the foundation of the Center in 1996, we have the knowledge, experience and vision of the Internet. We know e-commerce and the right solutions that work in today's complex and extremely competitive environment. Also, we work closely with our industry partners. A solid team approach is mandatory in today's Information Technology. The companies that take the move today are the companies that will win big and be around in five to ten years from now, as the Web and it's applications heads into what industry experts already call: Phase two and three of the e-Business explosion.
Thanks to modern machinery and equipment, as much as the manufacturing industry itself was transformed in the early 50's, the Internet is creating the same drastic changes to today's economy.
We prefer to call it an investment rather than an expense. E-commerce integration in any company or organization today is considered one of the BEST investment you can make today. Both your short term and long term immediate benefits should be measurable rapidly.
Getting your organization ready to participate fully in the exciting world of e-Business IS an investment, not an expense. There is a big difference between the two. IT business infrastructures today are vital not just for the profits they generate, but just to stay in business.
At GCIS, we feel the time to go e-Business is today. You should get on the e-commerce bandwagon today. Your competitors already have. Don't let them be ahead of you. Beat them at it. Make your company the very first in it's field. Be winners. Contact GCIS today.
NOTE: In Canada, we are aware that there are some federal and perhaps some provincial programs that certain corporations can benefit from. Most of these programs consist of certain tax deferred plans or could possibly be some definition of grants. It is not in our line of expertise to discuss these rather complex tax issues. We recommend that interested parties contact their local federal or provincial governments for more information on the subject or visit their respective Web sites.
